Challenges and Solutions

The 2018 Swift codebase relied on deprecated APIs and outdated libraries, leading to performance bottlenecks.

We replaced deprecated components with modern alternatives and refactored tightly coupled code into modular, maintainable sections.

High CPU and memory usage, along with blocking operations, hindered the user experience.

We implemented asynchronous programming to prevent UI freezing and optimized memory management to eliminate leaks.

There was no secure way for the standalone Swift application to communicate with web-based government portals.

We developed a dedicated Chrome extension and established a custom communication protocol (URLSession) to facilitate real-time data exchange

The project lacked a long-term maintenance framework.

We developed a comprehensive multi-step roadmap (from setup to Store deployment) to provide a predictable path for future updates and compliance.

Result

The modernisation transformed an outdated, tightly coupled application into a more maintainable and performant solution. Updated components, asynchronous processing and secure browser connectivity improved reliability while establishing a stronger foundation for ongoing maintenance and future platform support.
